An earthquake in 2001 in Gujarat, India destroyed Ramji Devraj Gordiya's village. When he and his brother decided to make quilts of block printed fabrics for a business, they had difficulty finding the old patterns. A friend gave them a copy of the book “Ralli Quilts Traditional Textiles from Pakistan and India”. They were able identify the patterns and move ahead developing a thriving business employing hundreds of local women. In this photo, Ramji Gordiya is displaying his quilts at the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
