The nomadic communities from Pakistan and India are known for making quilts that are quilted using both running stitches and complex decorative stitches, both in colorful designs.  Black is frequently a background color. This example was made in the Jogi snake charmer community. Jogi quilts are often confused with quilts made by members of the nomadic Saami community, which also feature intensive stitching, often on a dark ground.
