Because her mother died when she was 10, Laxshimiben Harijan had to learn quiltmaking from other family members and neighbors. She has been making quilts, including many of her own design (like this one), for 40 years. Laxshmiben gave each of her three daughters more than 20 quilts as dowry gifts. Her daughters do not make quilts themselves.
