Almost immediately upon the International Quilt Museum’s opening in 1997, a definitive group of 88 James Collection quilts was sent to Tokyo, Japan as a centerpiece exhibition in The World Quilt ‘98 Expo. Organized by Tadanobu Seto, chairman of the craft- and hobby-focused Nihon Vogue Corporation, the Expo built upon the success of previous large-scale quilt events in Japan, and in its four-day run welcomed over 100,000 visitors.
