Clinton Hamilton (1866-1962) began making quilts during his later years while living at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Washington, D.C. He vividly recounts his life experiences in his unique quilts.

In 1886 Mr. Hamilton joined the Army at age 21. He was assigned to Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Some of his assignments included chasing horse thieves and marching towards Wounded Knee Creek in 1890. Afterwards he was assigned further west until injuries in the late 1890s prevented further military service.
