One of the most important outcomes of Louisville Celebrates the American Quilt was the exhibition, Always There: The African-American Presence in American Quilts and its accompanying catalog. Curated and written by esteemed quilt scholar Cuesta Benberry, the exhibition marked an important step forward in the recognition of Black Americans' achievements and contributions to quilt history. Image of event brochure courtesy of Shelly Zegart and the Kentucky Quilt Project.
