In 1972, versions of Abstract Design in American Quilts traveled to Europe, including the cities of Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels. That same year, a handful of other Holstein/van der Hoof quilts were included in the Berlin exhibition, "Garbage Is Beautiful."
