Documented by the Oregon Quilt Project, some of these unfinished quilt blocks were reportedly made while Mieko Ikada (nee Nishino) and the rest of her Portland, Oregon Japanese-American family were held at the WWII Minidoka Internment Center in Idaho. Mieko continued to make the blocks into the 1950s but never assembled them into a complete quilt.
