In 1965, New York's Museum of Contemporary Crafts held an exhibition titled, Fabric Collage. Several pages of the accompanying catalog covered the topic of antique American quilts and included this 19th-century quilt in the Star of Bethlehem pattern, which was a loan from the Brooklyn Museum. A representative of the era before quilt scholarship had begun to develop, the catalog also repeated the common misconception that the first American quilts were Crazy quilts. Courtesy American Craft Council Library & Archives
