The versatility of the standard Log Cabin block is fully on display in this piece. Divided diagonally into light and dark halves, the block can be arranged to create an extraordinary number of overall patterns. In this case, the block's inherent value contrast creates the sense of a dark, yet see-through latticework draped across a light ground, a design effect referred to as "transparency."
