Log Cabin blocks—whether they are the Standard, Courthouse Steps, or Pineapple variations—are constructed with multitudes of strips. The maker of this quilt used strips of everyday woolen fabrics to construct over 200 Courthouse Steps blocks laid out in concentric rings. She also used strips—over 850 of them—to separate each ring with a row of angled strips. The overall effect is nearly overwhelming, as the separating strips first angle one way then the other, back and forth.
