This Bars quilt was the first Amish quilt Holstein and van der Hoof collected. When they first saw it in a Pennsylvania antiques store they were amazed at its simple visual power (listen to Holstein talk about the moment at "World Quilts: The Amish Story"). Holstein and van der Hoof went on to build a collection of over 100 Amish quilts, all of which are now part of the IQM collection.
