This Crazy quilt has been made to be used. Its heavy weight suggests it is lined with a blanket and it has, unusually, been quilted in straight and diagonal lines. The stitching suggests that some of the quilting was carried out before the embroidery was added. This is plain featherstitich and herringbone executed in pastel colours. Further rows of embroidery have been added to break up some of the larger patches. The quilt seems to have been made in five sections, one of which contains a area of smaller patches. The collection of fabrics include velvets with some devoré, some very fine dress silks and cottons as well as much humbler fabrics. A brown cotton sateen fabric has been used for the frilled edging and the backing, which has been pieced by hand.
