One of a group of images that were reproduced as colour lithographs in a splendid souvenir guide for the Great Exhibition.

There were approximately 13,000 displays, which were roughly grouped into four sections: raw materials; machinery; manufactures and fine arts. The latter included architecture and sculpture but not paintings.

The group of secular and religious objects in this image demonstrates the excesses of Victorian ornamentation.
