While most American Crazy quilts are constructed using block units, some were made in an “allover” style more similar to the predominant British format.

Though not embroidered generally, this example includes many ribbons and metallic, couched winding braid, a technique referred to by Crazy quilt researcher Penny McMorris as "found particularly in English work." The whole is beautifully offset with the deep velvet turquoise border.
