This quilt was featured in Penny McMorris’ seminal book, Crazy Quilts, with the statement that it was the “epitome of all that a crazy quilt should be.” Marked on the quilt is the maker’s signature, the title “My Crazy Dream,” and the words, “Boston 1877-Haverhill 1912.” In addition, maker Mary M. Hernandred Ricard (1838-1915) even included her own self-portrait in the lower right corner. She had a photographic image transferred onto a piece of silk which she then used as a quilt patch.
