Irregularly pieced cotton quilts like this one were made in the decades leading up to the 1870s in the United States and may have influenced the Crazy quilt style. In this example, oddly-shaped calico fabrics have been stitched together in strips and then alternated with narrow bands of a striped fabric. The olive and tan hues in many of the many of the fabrics indicate a mid-century date.
