Amish quilts in repeated block patterns also were popular among collectors and connoisseurs, as they shared similarities with op-art and other graphically powerful genres that created optical illusions. Collectors Robert and Ardis James liked this quilt so much that they had custom carpeting made in the pattern, which covered the stairs of their New York home.
