The simplest of all quilt styles, the whole cloth, or as the Amish have typically called it—the “plain quilt,” consists of one fabric on the quilt’s top. This quilt, one of the oldest dated Amish-made quilts, suggests that plain quilts were among the earliest quiltmaking styles adopted by Amish makers.
