This 1942 Moravian church quilting group continued the traditions of 19th-century groups. Whether they made quilts or quilted other people’s quilt tops for money, the church and its missions benefited from their work. The Farm Security Administration, whose photographer captured this image, reported that "The Moravian sewing circle quilts for anyone at one cent a yard of thread and donates the money to the church."
