Henry Francis DuPont (1880-1969) was a foremost collector of American furniture and decorative arts. Each season of the year, he artfully dressed the rooms of Winterthur, his 175 room rural Delaware estate, afresh with a harmonious selection of furniture and textiles from his vast collection, including some of the finest and rarest American quilts. He was not creating historically accurate room installations, but decorating the rooms with an eye to delight his guests who used them during their stay at the estate. Image courtesy of The Winterthur Library: Winterthur Archives
