The Modern Quilt Guild models one way that quiltmakers interact with each other through both face-to-face contact and a significant online presence.  A group of quilt bloggers chose to start an in-person group in Los Angeles in 2009. The original members continued blogging, and new groups formed across the country. The group has found a way to meld an online national organization with smaller local in-person groups. Members have the choice to participate online, in-person, or as a combination of the two.
