The Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society sold this quilt at their third, annual Anti-Slavery Fair in December 1836. The January 2, 1837, issue of The Liberator, Boston's abolitionist newspaper, described this Cradle Quilt, “made of patchwork in small stars,” and printed a transcription of the Abolitionist poem in its center (See next image). The Boston Female Anti-Slavery Society, founded in the early 1830s, fought for immediate emancipation of enslaved persons. Image courtesy of Historic New England
