The Needle and Thread Arts Society, a small non-profit organization co-founded by Gen Guracar in Mountain View, California, made three group quilts in the 1970s. This image is from one of those quilts made to voice objection to the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War. The quiltmakers solicited signatures from prominent Americans, including Jeanette Rankin, Bella Abzug, Leonard Bernstein, Justice William O. Douglas, and Cesar Chavez.
