When it came to Indian cotton prints, the Dutch market liked red grounds, whereas the British preferred a light background colour. This rare example of a mid-18th century Dutch crib quilt is made from Indian hand block-printed and mordant-dyed and painted cotton, likely produced on the Coromandel Coast of southeastern India. The quilting stitches are not very even, so it is possible that it was quilted in Holland.
