This 1750-1770 palampore, or printed cotton spread, features the bright colors Europeans were so enamored with after the 17th-century introduction of printed Indian fabrics. Palampores frequently ended up in wall hangings, bed curtains, or whole cloth quilts and were a mark of luxury into the 19th century.
