This quilt has crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice, the first time as a donation to Bundles for Britain during World War II. An unknown British citizen affected by bomb attacks received the quilt, probably wrapped around food and other relief items. The quilt eventually made it into the hands of Sheila Betterton of the American Museum in Bath, England. The quilt made its second voyage in 2000, when Betterton returned it to the United States.

Natalie Wells Latham founded Bundles for Britain  in New York City in 1940. The organization shipped donations to Britain from nearly 1000 branches and over 1,000,000 donors during the war.
