Nancy Keager Royer and her sister quilted their love of country into this exquisite whitework quilt from the early 19th century. Laid out in a medallion style, the center includes an eagle and thirteen stars. The United States adopted the eagle in 1782 as its national symbol. Other patriotic and political symbols included in the quilting are shields with stars and stripes.
