A popular quilt style which emerged as part of the revival was the sampler, featuring blocks of a number of different patterns as a way for quiltmakers to experiment with different styles and techniques. Lois Gottsch taught quiltmaking classes at her home; this quilt, made in 1977, was a teaching tool she used in her sampler classes.
