On April 15, 1995, the bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building resulted in the deaths of 168 people, 19 of whom were babies and children. In 1996, quilt artists Jean Ray Laury, Yvonne Porcella, Therese May, and Terri Hancock Mangat were among the many quiltmakers who made quilts for exhibits as memorials to the employees and children who died.
