Terrie Hancock Mangat, like many quilt artists, worked in other mediums before turning to quilts. She studied ceramics and printmaking, but she also took textile classes and learned to weave. Her quilts are anything but traditional, and Mangat has developed an identifiable style blending Americana with heavy embellishments in her narrative quilts. Mangat’s work including Mexican Graveyard was featured in Penny McMorris and Michael Kile’s landmark exhibition and book The Art Quilt.
