The Danish quiltmakers were inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s 200th birthday in 2005 to make a fairy-tale quilt. Based on famous Danish artist Ib Spang Olsen’s poster depicting Andersen’s 1845 tale, “The Elf Hill,” the makers worked with well-known American quiltmaker Ruth McDowell over a four-day workshop to construct this beautiful quilt top.
