Star of the Heartland is the result of a collaborative project of members of the Omaha Quilters Guild in 1986 to create a quilt that would represent the guild and the city. The medallion layout is a traditional quilt style while the star in the center is modeled after a similar image in the Western Heritage Museum in Omaha. The quilt represents the past and present in its use of the traditional Log Cabin blocks designed in an artful manner.
