One of the concerns of second and third-wave feminism has been the proliferation of nuclear materials and weapons. One concern of some feminist writers has been the effect of nuclear materials on the occurrence of cancer and fertility rates of people living in areas around nuclear testing facilities. Feminist activists included this block in their Women in Struggle quilt shown at International Women’s Day in 1983.
