“This Quilt is dedicated to all people who struggle for peace, justice & community.”

Gen Guracar and the Peace Union made this quilt for two common quiltmaking purposes--raising funds and social justice. Guracar, in response to a request to raise funds to re-build a hospital bombed in Vietnam by the United States Air Force, began this signature quilt as a raffle quilt. In her letter requesting signatures of well-known anti-war activists, she also asked the signatories to do this as a political statement. She received signatures from a diverse group of activists including feminists, politicians, writers, scientists, and Vietnam veterans.
