Although the provenance of this quilt is unknown, it bears a striking resemblance to a quilt on the cover of the exhibition brochure Quilts by Missouri Breaks when they were displayed at the Indian Museum and Crafts Center in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1986. The quilt in the exhibit was called Eagle and Pipe Quilt.
