In 1971, this Log Cabin hung at the Whitney Museum of American in the exhibition Abstract Design in American Quilts. The placement of quilts with strong geometric designs on the walls of a fine arts institution opened a critical conversation about the role of artistic principles in quiltmaking for both the art world and the quilt world.
