Since the 1980s, Terrie Hancock Mangat has been well-known for her pictorial quilts. They are multi-media collages, encompassing everything from buttons, beads, and ribbons, to old quilt and tablecloth fragments, ethnographic textiles, and electric blankets. The six-pointed stars embroidered in red and gold satin stitch are fragments of women's blouses from a remote Maya village in the Guatemalan highlands. Here they are appropriated as part of the fireworks display.
