Using the basic geometric forms of the quilt, artist Pamela Studstill approaches her quiltmaking from her background in painting. Her quilts reflect her interests in color theory, patterning, and impressionist painting. She uses commercially produced fabrics, but adds patterns of dots and lines to them with pigments prior to cutting and piecing. Her work was included in The Art Quilt in 1986 and has been acquired by the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
