This large scale Flying Geese pattern consists of new fabrics, including multiple colorways of the same design (the same printed motif executed in various colors). There are documented instances recorded in the Rhode Island Quilt Project of quiltmakers with connections to local textile mills having access to many colorways of factory printed cloth, sometimes as trials or seconds. This abundance of fabric was only possible due to the technologies of the Industrial Revolution.
