Crazy quilts often contain important social and cultural information about their makers. Although many may be “anonymously” made by in that they were not signed, we can learn about an individual maker’s perspective on her world. This detail of one section of a Crazy quilt includes ribbons from the Women’s Relief Corps, Grand Army of the Republic, and from both the Democrat and Republican parties. While we may not be able to determine the maker’s political affiliation, we can assume that she was interested in charitable work and possibly in politics.
