This wool wholecloth quilt features a quilting design associated with Vermont—feathered quilting, with a border on three sides framing a larger center. Wholecloth quilts like this one were used on the main bed of the household. Other bed furnishings would have included feather mattresses, bed linens, pillows and bolsters, and bed curtains and valances made to match the quilt.
