The designer of this quilt pattern, Anne Orr, served as the editor of Good Housekeeping from 1919 to 1940 in addition to running her own mail-order pattern service. She wrote for Southern Woman’s Magazine from 1913 to 1918. Originally, her patterns for both magazines focused on cross-stitch embroidery, tatting, filet crochet, and knitting. As quilts rose in popularity, Orr began designing quilt patterns. The influence of cross-stitch design is evident.
