Exemplary of the innovative quilts submitted to the Sears National Quilt Contest, held in conjunction with the 1933 “Century of Progress” World’s Fair in Chicago, this quilt showcases charming scenes from everyday life. Alas, Fordyce, the 45-year-old daughter of Swedish immigrants, did not win the grand prize of $1000 or the $200 bonus for an original design.
