Works Progress Administration (WPA) workers in Oklahoma created this friendship quilt highlighting twenty work crews based geographically across the state. Most of the embroidered inscriptions include a crew number or a county designation, with a central label reading, “Quilted by Crew 3.” Notably, one block features individual spools of thread appliquéd in an array of favored 1930s colors, with figurative embroidered scissors, thimble, needle, and thread.
