We sadly know little about many of the artists who worked for the IAD. Despite the Kentucky artist Elbert S. Mowery leaving a meager paper trail, this WPA photograph documents his work painting a quilt, the rendering of which is reproduced here (next image). The One Patch quilt, attributed to Priscilla Dunn, was owned by her descendants in Louisville, Kentucky, at the time of its painting in 1938.
