Pink Dogwood was one of quilt designer Marie Webster’s many popular and widely circulated patterns. In this and other designs, Webster drew inspiration from nineteenth-century quilt styles and set them in contemporary formats and color palettes. Her popular 1915 book, Quilts, Their Story and How to Make Them, helped perpetuate romanticized ideas about colonial American quiltmaking, despite a lack of evidence.
