With these visual similarities in mind, British quilt historian Dorothy Osler has tried to establish a link between Welsh quilts and Amish quilts. By examining census records, land deeds, migration patterns, cultural affinities, and stylistic similarities of the quilts made by members of these two groups, she has argued that an accumulation of evidence from these diverse sources supports the assertion that the “visual links between Amish and Welsh quilts are not accidental.”
