The intricate patchwork found in this Seminole skirt is a completely different style of patchwork than the star quilts of Lakota Sioux or the stylized appliques of the Hawaiians.  All three groups, though, are categorized as Native American. All three groups have also influenced or been influenced by European-American quiltmaking traditions.  The Seminole tradition of strip-piecing patchwork has influenced techniques used by many white quiltmakers.
