Quilt kits eased the transition for those new to quiltmaking and saved time and effort for those who wanted to complete their quilt more quickly. One kit purveyor, the Robert Frank Needlework Supply Company, described the convenience of their kits this way: “It is no longer necessary to spend hours of time to sort the right color combinations, and then hour after hour, day after day, cut these pieces with the scissors. All this work has been done for you. The color combinations blend perfectly. Our labor saving machines cut the pieces for you to perfect size, and all you have to do [is] sew these . . . pieces together.” Although the source for this Double Wedding Ring is unknown, the perfectly color coordinated pieces point to a kit origin.
